Rhinos in Nebraska?

For more than 35 million years, great herds of rhinoceroses lived in Nebraska. Modern rhinos are exclusive to Asia and Africa, but prehistoric Nebraska had a climate that was much warmer and milder. While several species of rhinoceroses lived in Nebraska, all went extinct in North America around five million years ago. The Rhino Gallery lets visitors take a step into ancient Nebraska and learn about the hornless, more agile relatives of the rhino we know today.
